Starred Saturdays: week of July 11

It was a fun week for us with a trip to the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Tacoma.  We fell in love with the walruses and got to watch a little girl taking a camel ride.  Z was a little too scared to try!

It's been a quiet week on the internet so, after you figure out who you write like (I got Vonnegut and Dickens!), you can look at some of our photos from the zoo ... they're not super high quality but animals are always awesome!

meerkats

elephant

clouded leopards

harbor seal

walrus

polar bear

Taking it easy,

  1. I love the elephant! Elephants are so cool. And it's awesome they have a camel for camel rides--I hope Z gets to do that when he gets a bit older. I want a pet camel.

  2. I love meerkats.
I think I have some nice shots of them somewhere (zoo photos of course). I Know I have some nice ones of a cheetah I took at the Werribee open range zoo.

I wonder what the algorithm for the writing analysis is (or is it just a random number generator). I got James Joyce and Dan Brown from two of my chapters. They are meant to be in different voices so maybe that is a good thing?

  3. Seems like the animals were pretty active when you were there! Yay!

And I've gotta take that quiz...

  4. Jenny - I love reading about camels in fiction because they almost always give them personality!

Al - Meerkats are great. This zoo had a fantastic exhibit for them too. I think we just got some in Seattle as well so we need to check those out. And, yeah, a lot of people are curious as to how the analysis is done.

Jenners - It was a beautiful, mild day so everyone was up and about.

  6. Thanks, Tif! I hadn't taken Z down there before (I last went quite a few years ago) so it seemed like a fun thing to do. It's smaller than I remembered but they've done tons of renovations (and still going) and it's beautiful now!

  7. It has been a very long time since I was there! We're hoping in a few years, maybe we will move where it will be more accessible!! I wanna see these renovations!
