#DWJMarch: Book Highlight -- The Time of the Ghost

The Time of the Ghost
1981
Fantasy

A ghost appears in a field, outside of what appears to be a boarding school, but she has no memory of who she is or how she is connected to the place. As she visits the school, she starts having feelings of familiarity even though she isn't remembering much. She thinks the three girls living in the back of the boarding school may be her sisters but she's not sure. The one thing she is sure of is that danger is coming from an unexpected place (and time) and she's the only one who can stop it.

  2. The scariest thing for me is that the ghost isn't sure which sister she is. That kills me.

    1. When I was looking back at my review for it, that's something that seemed to have grabbed me too. I definitely need to re-read this one. I've only read it once and I know I didn't full absorb everything -- especially since I didn't know as much about DWJ's childhood then.

    2. So true! It's amazing how anxious you as a reader feel when you don't know who you are!

  3. Again, feel sure I've read this, but can't remember it. My local library has this one and Power of Three: I'm going to go pick them up! (Just reread House of Many Ways, and I love Charmain too! Forgot how funny it is.)

  4. I know I've read this one, but I remember very little about it. All the same, I've thrown together a short post. (I got caught up; now I need to stay caught up.)

  5. Just reread this one. I have read it, but it was so long ago I had forgotten everything, so it was like reading it for the first time. Spooky and twisty, but still had a few laugh-out-loud moments (all the school boys bringing their bloody noses into the kitchen!). Really enjoyed it. And, yes, interesting to think how much of it she based on her own childhood.

    1. I've forgotten a lot about it too so I'm sure I need a re-read sooner than later!
