It covers a much broader range - including two very attractive anti-hero/ines, we actually get to see life in the lower-middle classes when Fanny Price is forced to go and stay with her family in Portsmouth, there are even oblique references to slavery.
(sorry, previous comment was starting to turn into an essay!)Tracyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03070070360087765540noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-754919688510890076.post-85100631385023652482011-05-22T13:19:09.233-07:002011-05-22T13:19:09.233-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Tracyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03070070360087765540noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-754919688510890076.post-26018668802747233622011-05-22T11:35:44.447-07:002011-05-22T11:35:44.447-07:00Tracy - Yes, the TBR shelf is always in the way of...Tracy - Yes, the TBR shelf is always in the way of a good re-read! I'm taking care of some commitments right now and then I'll hopefully spend some of the summer in re-reads.

Karen - There are so many books that I read in school that I would like to re-read. I suspect that I disliked many of them simply because I was "forced" to read them.

Teresa - I love when you get that re-read craving!

Jux - I would like to re-read Mansfield Park too. I recall really liking it but so many other readers complain about it.

Jenny - Yay! Good choices! ;)

Alexandra - There was a re-read challenge last year but I think it didn't get much traction. Re-reads are a tough thing for book bloggers apparently!

Jenners - It must be good then!

Jane - I think I might have read David Copperfield about 4 or 5 years ago. I can't go much longer than that because I love it so! And I would enjoy a Middlemarch re-read too!Kristen M.https://www.blogger.com/profile/02335598194501733541noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-754919688510890076.post-26502395212945888492011-05-02T13:41:17.442-07:002011-05-02T13:41:17.442-07:00Interesting list...I couldn't even finish Jona...Interesting list...I couldn't even finish Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, and here you want to reread it! I want to reread David Copperfield as well. I've read 3-4 times, but not in the past 20 years :)

I'm currently rereading the Little House series, London by Edward Rutherford, and will soon (this fall?) reread Middlemarch on my march through Eliot.

On my TBR-soon list is a reread of The Years with Ross, by James Thurber, about the early days of the New Yorker magazine. It is wonderful--I read it 2-3 times in high school, but not since then.JaneGShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11094501834387622997noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-754919688510890076.post-56447685587582623172011-04-29T11:45:23.475-07:002011-04-29T11:45:23.475-07:00I'm not a big rereader but I'm thinking of...I'm not a big rereader but I'm thinking of giving A visit From The Goon Squad another go!Jennershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08044537551139633301noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-754919688510890076.post-40361841990296148862011-04-27T04:21:59.551-07:002011-04-27T04:21:59.551-07:00I know exactly what you mean. I'm also considering rereading Sea of Poppies by Amitov Ghosh before the next book comes out this fall. These days I also always seem to be craving a Thomas Hardy rereading, anything but Jude and Tess, both of which I've reread in the last few years.Teresahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09896331683344872038noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-754919688510890076.post-23732958454760393012011-04-25T07:45:23.612-07:002011-04-25T07:45:23.612-07:00I need to re-read Love in the Time of Cholera for ...I need to re-read Love in the Time of Cholera for a book group discussion. It's been so long since I read it I think it will almost be like reading it for the first time. Another book I really want to reread it Of Human Bondage by W. Somerset Maugham. It's one of the first classics I really liked. I read it in college and I really want to reread it since I hardly remember it.Karen K.https://www.blogger.com/profile/13483190930383406559noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-754919688510890076.post-27838720446711147742011-04-25T01:00:00.478-07:002011-04-25T01:00:00.478-07:00Your first two are on my re-read list for this yea...Your first two are on my re-read list for this year, too! The Ground Beneath Her Feet because it's been several years since I read it, Jonathan Strange because I've only read the first book in the series, which I'll need to re-read before I can finish the other two books, which are on my TBR shelf.

Other books on my re-read list for this year are The Hobbit (finished it a few weeks ago), A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainiain, Lady Chatterley's Lover and 1984. But I have so many books on my TBR shelf I doubt I'll get round to reading all of them.Tracyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03070070360087765540noreply@blogger.com
