Mid-January Update

I didn't want to get out of the habit of posting so here's a little look into what I've been doing so far this month.
The Raven Boys by Azeher on DeviantArt
I just finished a relisten of The Raven Boys and loved it more than I did the first time. I caught a lot of the clues that I wouldn't have known to look for before and I felt so much more for these characters that I now know. As soon as The Raven King comes out in paperback, I'll get a nice matchy set of the books to own (even though I ADORE them on audio).

I am just past the mid-point of The Old Curiosity Shop. I decided to start the year with a Dickens chunkster from my TBR and I'm not regretting the decision. It's a great story and I'm totally invested in finding out what will happen to Little Nell, Kit, and more.

And, finally, I'm working on a massive project with all of the CDs I've collected over the years. I have most of them stored away in boxes and the rest on a tower and the tower had accumulated a rickety stack of unfiled discs on top. So, I pulled out the boxes to file stuff away and realized that not all of the discs were on my server. Since I'm also getting ready to move my music to the cloud (if anyone has recommendations, let me know!), I decided to digitize everything. I'm done with the tower and halfway through the 16 boxes--did I mention that I worked at two different record stores when I was in my teens and 20s and took ample advantage of the employee discounts??--and it's taking forever but it's worth rediscovering things like rare tracks on singles.

Anyway, what have you all been up to? Any big home projects? Reading something fantastic? Making something beautiful?

Doing all of the things,
K

  1. I really need to read more Dickens! I have been slowly purging our house of stuff and all ready went through my bookshelves. Getting rid of stuff always makes me feel better. I wish we could get rid of more. lol

    1. I own a lot of Dickens that I haven't read yet. Last year I tried The Pickwick Papers but just couldn't get into it. Luckily this one is a much easier and more interesting read!
And, after my cds, my next project is the kitchen. I have so much stuff I don't use in there!

  2. My Dickens book is just there on the shelf looking at me.

I've been doing a lot of reading (not so much posting), cleaning out, and some sewing...

    1. Since my TBR shelf is by my bed, I literally wake up and have these books looking at me and then they do the same when I go to bed. This is a nice thick one that isn't on that shelf anymore!
And maybe I need to make this the year that I figure out how to use my sewing machine. ;)

  3. I love that series on audio but I have them in hardback as well. Both are excellent!

    1. I love the audio but I do miss being able to go back to specific parts later or get quotes. I need copies for sure!

  4. I went through a similar project with my CDs years ago and it was such a drudge. But worth it! Hang in there :)

    1. I am finally uploading all of the extras to my ipod and it's 2200 more songs than were on there before!

  5. Damn girl! Your CD project sounds like a ton of work that's totally worth it. I love freeing myself of surplus items -- I actually want to start a small campaign in my own life to get rid of some of my own surplus stuff. I haven't moved in a while now, and when you don't move house for a while, you accumulate SO MANY THINGS.

    1. Exactly. We've been in our house so long that closets and drawers have things in them that I don't even know I have anymore. We started cleaning last year and got rid of a lot of surface things but it's time to start digging and tackling the longer projects like this one!
