To LibraryThing or Not To LibraryThing

I have a dilemma that I'm hoping for some help with. I am currently using Shelfari but I don't feel like there is much community on there or much to do past manage my bookshelf. There are groups but I don't feel like they are very interactive. Then again, I don't spend a lot of time trying to interact on there.

So I am wondering whether to start using LibraryThing. There seems to be a lot of action over there and I wouldn't mind trying to participate in the Early Readers program. BUT ... the thought of having to add my entire library when I don't have a list with ISBNs seems less than appealing. So I want to ask my book fiend friends here ... is it worth it? I have 350ish fiction titles on my shelves. That wouldn't even count all the other books that I have read but don't own or any of my non-fiction. So if I want to put all my books up, I would have to pay. Did you? Should I do the LibraryThing?

Hoping for some advice,
K

  1. YES! I joined a few years ago to catalog my books only, hit the 200 for free books pretty fast and then I upgraded to the lifetime membership. Since then I'm on the message boards daily (mainly ARC Junkies, Bookmooching, and Early Reviewers) They are a lot of fun, great for getting tips and help. A lot of the people on their are bloggers! I love librarything. I say it's definitely worth it. Just add a stack of books at a time if you want, you'll get there!

  4. I love LibraryThing! The community is awesome and I'm there constantly. I'm on Shelfhari and GoodReads too, but just barely.

  5. Thanks, Lenore! I really wanted to hear from someone using Shelfari as well and I'm glad to know which you use more.

I've joined LT as klpm so anyone can feel free to friend me. It's going to take me a while to get my library up there but I've started!
