What book is the perfect holiday read for you? What book puts you in the mood for Christmas? What book do you see on your shelves in June that starts you daydreaming about a chilly, pine-scented morning (or a sunny day for our Aussie friends)?

Definitely The Night Before Christmas (we have an old British version in our house). But, between Halloween and Christmas we also enjoy The Nightmare Before Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI looked through every version of The Night BEfore Christmas to find one that was colorful and fun for my two year old. I finally found one and now we read it every night and have been for about a week now.
ReplyDeleteIt's becoming our favorite.
A Christmas Memory....
ReplyDeleteThe Story of Holly and Ivy by Rumer Godden - love it!
ReplyDeleteChristopher Moore's The Stupidest Angel. Christmas and zombies go together like.. okay, they don't go together. But the book is still hilarious.
ReplyDeleteBoth those covers look great ... but for us it is "Who Will Guide My Sleigh Tonight?" by Jerry Pallotta. Imagine Santa auditioning different animals to pull his sleight .. with varying results. Totally fun!
ReplyDeleteHC - The Nightmare Before Christmas is definitely a big favorite in our house too!
ReplyDeleteMichelle - It's so fun at the beginning to choose what your own traditions are going to be, isn't it?
Southernmatrix - By Truman Capote? I've never seen that before.
Elizabeth - I'm going to have to look that one up too!
Colin - I still haven't read any Christopher Moore. I am going to have to change that in the coming year! It's good to have something funny for the holidays.
Jenners - Another one I haven't seen but will definitely look for. I love the cover with the dolphins pulling the sleigh!
Hi Kristen,
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas from down here!
Al
I'm not really reading anything too festive this year, but a book that is really gripping is one I'll be looking for!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely Holiday and best wishes for 2010!
Al - Thank you! We had a great day -- sunny but cold.
ReplyDeleteDanielle - It's true. You need a gripping book to get past the many distractions of the season!
