The Reading Calendar: April Edition

So, as you can see, we didn't do as well in April as in March with Z's reading.  I was going to say that we won't make excuses but I think that the excuses are important because there are times when all families run up against reasons why reading just doesn't happen.  For us there was a new iPad at the beginning of the month (Z has become a master doodler and a Netflix addict) , some ornery days where Z told me "I'm not reading today ... just looking at pictures" and some days that we just plain got caught up in other things.  We only read together on half the days this month.  At least it won't be hard to beat that in May!

Moving forward ... hopefully with a book in hand,
K and Z

  2. We have days like that too ... and then days where we read book after book after book.

And I WANT you to write about your new iPAd!!!!!!! What is it like? Worth the hype? What can you do with it????

  3. You're doing really well, though. I mean life does kinda get in the way sometimes but that's more than most people do. Good for you!

  4. Tif - We read the first two chapters but he didn't get into it. To be honest, nothing really happened during that time (it was all just descriptive really) so I'm not surprised! I may give him an abridged version of the story later.

Jenners - Yeah, it's hard too because of the warm days. We spend all of our time playing outside and forget to read! And I will write about the iPad soon. ;)

Paige - Thanks! You've made me feel much better about this!

  5. It is a bit harder for the younger crowd to get into! Have you seen the easy reader versions of the Little's? These could be a good replacement because they tend to have more action and are simpler to read! I just love the concept of the story!! :)

  6. Tif - I didn't know there were easy reader versions of The Littles but I loved them when I was a kid so I will definitely try to find them for Z! I loved the cartoon too. ;)
