Mon. | Dec. 7 – – not necessarily your favorite book because it could be memorable for how bad or how much you liked or disliked the characters. At first nothing came to mind but then I started looking back through my spreadsheet for the year and one book jumped out as both unique and quite memorable.
I originally wrote this short mention of this French novella --
Wow. This novella about a shop run by a French family that sells methods for committing suicide blew my mind and broke my heart. Black humor followed by utter blackness. I loved it but the ending turned that love to hate in less than a handful of words. This is one book where you just can't read the end first. It would taint your entire reading experience. And now everyone wants to pick it up and read those words, right? But I promise you, you will ruin everything. Just go find this one and read it (or don't if you don't want your heart broken into a million pieces).I can't remember if I kept my copy or not but I almost want to read it again now, knowing what is coming. But it's also so horrifying and dark that I don't want to read it ever again.
What was your most memorable read of the year?
Reliving a nightmare,
